Black Country Route
This work attempts to depict the very simple necessity of going to work, to earn a crust and to put food on the table for ourselves and or children. It is a monumental task to be a breadwinner. It is a constant battle which affords few memorials.
There is a tradition of immortalizing heroes in sculpture: this work celebrates the working class hero. Surmounted upon heavy industrial columns are a knife and fork; the bucket supported by lifting tackle, substitutes a dinner plate.
